Fast X is the tenth and penultimate installment of the Fast & Furious franchise, one of the most popular and successful action series in cinema history. The series follows Dominic Toretto (Vin Diesel), a former street racer and criminal who leads a team of loyal friends and allies in various heists, missions, and races around the world. Along the way, they face enemies, betrayals, losses, and challenges, but always stick together as a family. This film follows our team of protagonists as they face a new enemy from their past: Dante Reyes, the son of a drug lord they killed in Brazil. With the help of old allies and new friends, they must stop Dante and his ally Cipher from destroying everything they love.

The Fast & Furious saga began in 2001 with The Fast and the Furious, a film about an undercover cop who infiltrates a street racing gang led by Dom Toretto. Since then, the series has evolved into a global phenomenon, spanning nine films and two spin-offs, with a combined box office of over $6 billion. The films are known for their thrilling action sequences, exotic locations, diverse cast, and themes of family, loyalty, and justice.

The expected plot

The plot of Fast X revolves around Dom and his family being targeted by Dante Reyes (Jason Momoa), the son of Hernan Reyes, a drug lord who was killed by Dom’s team in Fast Five (2011). Dante has teamed up with Cipher (Charlize Theron), a cyberterrorist who has been manipulating and tormenting Dom since The Fate of the Furious (2017). Together, they plan to unleash a deadly weapon that could wipe out millions of lives and destroy everything that Dom holds dear.

To stop them, Dom must reunite with his crew and enlist the help of some unexpected allies, including his brother Jakob, his former enemy Deckard Shaw (Jason Statham), and his grandmother Abuela Toretto (Rita Moreno), who reveals some shocking secrets about Dom’s past. Along the way, they will face new threats, old foes, and personal conflicts that will test their bonds like never before.

Cast and Crew

We see Vin Diesel continue as Dominic “Dom” Toretto: The leader of the team and a skilled driver who values family above all else. Michelle Rodriguez is Letty Ortiz: Dom’s wife and a fierce fighter who has been with him since the beginning. Tyrese Gibson plays Roman Pearce: A longtime friend of Dom’s and a comic relief who often gets into trouble. Chris “Ludacris” Bridges is Tej Parker, a genius hacker and mechanic who provides technical support for the team. Nathalie Emmanuel as Ramsey: A brilliant hacker who joined Dom’s team in Furious 7 (2015) and has a crush on Tej.

Jordana Brewster plays Mia Toretto: Dom’s sister and Jakob’s twin who retired from the team to raise her son Brian with her husband Brian O’Conner (Paul Walker), who died off-screen between Furious 7 and F9. John Cena as Jakob Toretto: Dom’s younger brother who was revealed to be a master spy and assassin working for Cipher in F9. He has a complicated relationship with Dom due to their father’s death.

Jason Momoa is Dante Reyes, the main villain of the film and the son of Hernan Reyes, who seeks revenge against Dom for his father’s death (Fast Five, 2011). Charlize Theron plays Cipher, a cyberterrorist who has been manipulating and tormenting Dom since The Fate of the Furious (2017). Jason Statham is Deckard Shaw: A former British special forces soldier who became an enemy of Dom’s team after killing Han Lue (Sung Kang) in Fast & Furious 6 (2013).

The movie is directed by Louis Leterrier, who replaced Justin Lin after he left due to creative differences. Lin had directed four previous films in the franchise, including F9 (2021), which introduced Dom’s estranged brother Jakob (John Cena) as a new antagonist. The screenplay is written by Dan Mazeau and Lin, based on a story by Mazeau, Lin, and Zach Dean. Leterrier performed several uncredited rewrites to the script and brought his own vision and style to the movie. 

New Cast

Fast X features some new faces that join the familiar ones in the Fast family. One of them is Brie Larson, who plays Tess, a mysterious hacker who helps Dom and his crew to stop Cipher and Dante. She revealed that she did most of her own stunts and that she learned how to drive a Lamborghini for one of the scenes. 

Another newcomer is Rita Moreno, who plays Abuela Toretto, Dom’s grandmother who lives in Puerto Rico. Moreno is a legendary actress who has won an Oscar, an Emmy, a Grammy, and a Tony award.

Vehicles of FastX

One of the trademarks of the Fast & Furious franchise is the amazing array of vehicles that are used for racing, chasing, and escaping. Fast X does not disappoint in this regard, as it features some of the most impressive cars, motorcycles, trucks, planes, and even submarines that you have ever seen on screen. Some of the vehicles that you will see in Fast X are:

• A custom-built Dodge Charger SRT Hellcat Redeye Widebody that Dom drives in Los Angeles.
• A modified Ford Mustang Shelby GT500 that Jakob drives in London.
• A Lamborghini Huracán Evo Spyder that Tess drives in Rome.
• A BMW S 1000 RR motorcycle that Dante rides in Turin.
• A Mercedes-Benz G-Class 6×6 that Roman drives in Lisbon.
• A Boeing C-17 Globemaster III plane that Tej pilots in Antarctica.
• A nuclear-powered submarine that Cipher uses to launch missiles.

We may also catch just a little whisper of the future, with the Dodge Charger Daytona SRT electric muscle car concept.

Locations

Another aspect that makes Fast X an epic movie is the variety of locations that it showcases. The movie takes you on a journey around the world, from sunny beaches to snowy mountains, from ancient ruins to modern skyscrapers. Some of the locations that we will see in Fast X are:

• Los Angeles: The city where it all began for Dom and his crew.
• London: The city where Jakob lives and works as an MI6 agent.
• Rome: The city where Tess hacks into Cipher’s network and where Dante attacks Dom’s team.
